How old do I have to be to join?

You need to be over the age of 12 and in year 8 and under 18 and 9 months to join as a cadet and 18 and 55 to join as an adult instructor or civilian assistant.

How much does it cost?

There is no joining fee, however some detachments may have a small collection each parade night.

Do I have to buy a uniform?

The uniform is loaned to you when your detachment commander is happy that you are serious about becoming a cadet.  This is replaced as you grow out of it during your time in the cadets, however when you leave you must return your uniform if you don’t you will be invoiced for the cost to replace it.

The only part of the uniform that you are required to buy is your boots. Please ask your detachment commander where the best place to purchase them is.

Can boys or girls join?

The Isle of Man ACF welcomes both boys and girls.
